The talks

Peak's Brain Training: where neuroscience meets fun

Peak builds games to 'challenge your brain'. Designing such games is a little different to making games for pure entertainment. Whilst ensuring an enjoyable experience, we always need to be mindful of the science behind everything we do. We need to be quantitatively driven and as transparent about performance results as we can. In this talk, we'll share precisely how we do this day-to-day, combining data science with design thinking.

Redesigning Peak's Onboarding

We hear a lot about data driven design and product management, but what kind of data are we actually looking at and how does that help us decide what to test? At Peak – Brain Training, the development process is influenced by data, human-centred design, science and fun. These are the building blocks that helped us build a product that has been downloaded more than 40 million times and win countless awards. For a glimpse into this approach, join us as we discuss our recent redesign of the First Time User Experience.

David has been designing video games on a multitude of platforms for over 17 years. In that time he has worked for some of the games industry's biggest names including Electronic Arts, Glu Mobile and Eidos Interactive. David evangelises about gamification and metagame thinking. At the same time, he seeks to bring fun to everything we do here at Peak.

Andreea is PM for Peak – Brain Training. She has started her tech journey testing J2ME games for EA Mobile many, many moons ago, acquiring a variety of skills along the way, some of which may have earned her the title of "JIRA Goddess". Andreea is passionate about using tech for good and is preparing for the AI takeover by being extremely nice to her Alexa and Google Assistant.

Meylin is a product designer for Peak – Brain Training. The team is on a mission to show users that games can not only be fun but good for your cognitive wellbeing too. Meylin’s unique combination of skills allow her to create usable, delightful mobile experiences and she is a strong believer in human-centered design and a “Wait...but why?” approach to life.
